Who Are We

Small Fish Drafting LLC was founded by Jeremiah Ward in 2004. His passion for architecture began at an early age and was kindled by his father who was a building inspector and plans examiner for the City of Scottsdale. He began to sharpen his pencil throughout high school and started designing houses on paper. He soon transitioned to Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and taught himself the basics. He attended Glendale Community College where he majored in Architecture. He worked for an architectural firm for several months but struggled being an entrepreneur in a cubical. He started his own company with just a handful of projects and felt like a "small fish in a big pond". The name stuck and all though Small Fish Drafting is not so small anymore, he has not forgotten his roots and the small projects that made Small Fish Drafting what it is today. That is why we still tackle the carport conversion and small additions.

We strive to make the process of getting a permit as painless as possible. The daunting stacks of paperwork, building codes and regulations can be overwhelming. That is why we handle  your entire project from design to permit. Contact us to see how we can help you.

The process

Homeowners & First Time Projects

If this is your first project and you don't know where to start or what to expect, you can get in to trouble. We do this full time so that we can help you avoid the pit falls of going over budget, increasing the scope of work and failure to receive a permit at the city.

We take this first step serious. When it comes to designing the project you have been thinking about and saving money for, you don't want to rush or settle for less than your dream. We will work with you to make sure you get exactly what you want. It's your investment after all.

Produce

Committed to Quality

Once the design has been approved, the second step is to create the drawings and specs. Every project is different and will vary in requirements. We can provide the proper engineering needed to ensure a permit. This process will vary from 1-4 weeks.

Satisfaction Guaranteed

You're plans are done. The engineering is in and it's time to submit to the city. We have built up a relationship with many of the cities and are on a first name basis with many of the reviewers. Depending on the size and complexity of your project, the permit may be issued over-the-counter or logged in for a formal review. This process will vary from 2-4 weeks depending on the municipality.

If you are not sure what you want to build or need ideas, this option includes one site visit, measure the entire house, as-built floor plan, 2 hours of design time and a remodel concept plan.
